Shaina - New Bullying Reporting System - see slides for details
Marci - LGBTQ Clubs at Secondary Schools
Which schools have them? - At CHS, the format for calling a student group a GSA, students can’t meet during the school day. This limited the students’ abilities to participate (especially if riding school bus, or if they weren’t out to parents at home). GSA has rolled into the Cultural Diversity Group. With lunch being staggered, it makes it difficult to happen. Diane leads the group and rotates hours during the day that it happens. 13 students just graduated who were part of the group. The most students that have been part of that group is 37.
At WSH - GSA meets before and after school.
WMS - 30-40 participants. If it’s a club, were told they couldn’t meet at lunch time (during school day).
Discussed the idea of providing support through social work support groups (GSA lunch bunch for example)... not a club, but a support group. Need to have parent consent for working with a social worker.
Need to fill out a form for creating a club.
Parent permission is not required as far as being part of a group… parent permission may be required to stay after school. Up to the student to tell the parent what they are staying after for.
Marci - LGBTQ Gender Support Plan Andy - Professional Learning
Stephie - Library Subcommittee Update and Culturally Responsive Library Walk
MORE INFORMATION COMING ON THIS - Shaina is interested in expanding this to a culturally responsive school walk (don’t limit to just libraries. Having committee members walk schools with principals.
Marshall - Anthony Ianni, etc
